My own personal healing journey has been a pursuit of wholeness and self-understanding. I decided to study psychology partly to help others, and partly because I knew that along the way I would grow, explore, and better understand myself. I grew up in New Jersey, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania.
I worked for 4 years in the mental health field as a counselor at a county Crisis Intervention center and as a therapist for children with learning and behavioral diagnoses. While working with a child diagnosed with autism and cerebral palsy, I experienced the healing power of Chiropractic firsthand. I witnessed the rapid healing of this child, with an improvement equaling several grade levels in social, language, and cognitive skills, due to the work of Applied Kinesiology pioneer
Dr. Carl Ferreri. Over the course of one summer, after
approximately 4 treatments by Dr. Ferreri, the teachers at this
boy’s school were shocked by the progress that he had made.
Many of the school staff were amazed and wondered “is this the
same child?” After
witnessing this, and after the increased feelings of well being
and strength I felt after receiving my own “treatment,” I
was inspired to enter Chiropractic school. I knew this would be
a powerful career path to help people avoid what is often a
“dead end” in America’s health care system.
While attending Logan College of Chiropractic in
St. Louis, Missouri, my chief interest was the study of the
technique of Applied Kinesiology (AK). This is a diagnostic and
treatment technique that involves muscle testing, allowing the
body to communicate locations, types of dysfunction and stress,
and to feedback information on the best course of treatment.
This study led to many hours of training with my mentor Dr.
Patrick Fox, a brilliant man and pioneer in the technique of
Clinical Kinesiology. This system seeks to streamline the practice of AK through continually listening to the body’s top priority. I also studied
Neuro-Emotional Technique,
Activator
Methods,
CPK, several soft tissue release techniques, and received my national certification in Acupuncture. I have chosen to pursue these techniques because I feel that every one helps me to better identify each patient’s unique needs, and to offer a wide variety of healing tools.
I encourage healthy dietary and lifestyle choices as a way to
heal the body from the inside out. I strive to educate patients
to take control of their own health. I believe that the key to
health is supporting the body on all levels, and preventing
disease at its source. Currently I am regularly testing
patients for hidden infections, organ/gland weakness, and common
food allergies. This testing, along with checking the effectiveness
of patients' vitamins/supplements, is allowing me to help
people quickly reset their health from inside-out, as well as
from outside-in.
I am also very proud and excited about the
work I am doing with Neurologic Relief Centers. It is a very
powerful system that is getting amazing results with patients
suffering with fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, chronic
fatigue, and autoimmune and neurologic diseases such as RA, MS,
ALS, and RSD. We have created a website dedicated to information
on this service at healthinstituteco.com
My personal interests include meditation,
biking, hiking, reading, movies, listening to many types of
music, and riding my motorcycle through the Colorado National
Monument. I also volunteer at St. Mary's Marillac Clinic
providing low cost Chiropractic care to qualified families. I am
committed to living a vibrant, spiritual life and to helping
others achieve all of their health goals.
