"A
local doctor is changing lives with a simple adjustment. He is
the only pediatric chiropractor on the Western Slope and
patients come from all over so he can help their children.
"Most people think of chiropractic care for back
disorders but with children I hardly ever see that, says Dr.
Sheader.
According to the International Chiropractic Pediatric
Association, pediatric patients can be treated for a number of
problems - everything from ADHD to ear infections to
coordination problems and autism. And it's helping children that
drives Dr. Wes.
"I went on and decided if I could help a single child
not suffer like I suffered through school, then it would be
worth it, says Sheader.
Dr.Wes says as a child he had struggled in school and was
almost a high school dropout. Then, in his late 20's he was
diagnosed with learning disabilities.
"I was 27 years old and I was reading at a 5th grade
level and writing at a 3rd grade level, I was diagnosed with
dyslexia and learning disabilities.
Dr. Wes credits his own success with the help of a
chiropractor when a back injury landed him in a chiropractors
office. He found the treatment helped with his learning
disabilities.
He then made it through college and is now one of only about
153 pediatric chiropractors in the world.
"Huge impact in my life. It completely turned my life
around, says Sheader.
Some of his patients say hes turning other people's lives
around too."
